Elvis Presley’s worn Neostyle sunglasses, kept for 25 years by his close friend Charlie Hodge, will go under the hammer this week
LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, September 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Propstore, one of the world’s leading entertainment memorabilia auction houses, has announced that an original pair of sunglasses worn by Elvis Presley will feature in its upcoming Music Live Auction, taking place in the UK this week, on October 1 and 2, 2026. The two-day auction will offer more than 800 lots with a combined estimated value of $4 million, with bidding available to collectors worldwide.
Estimated at $13,200–$26,400 (£10,000–£20,000), the sunglasses are an original pair of Neostyle Nautic 2 frames worn by Elvis Presley. He purchased his first pairs from Dennis Roberts’ Optique Boutique on Sunset Boulevard and quickly took to the distinctive style. Elvis later commissioned customized versions featuring his “TCB” (“Taking Care of Business”) logo, which he wore during his 1972 Madison Square Garden concerts.
Elvis gave this pair to his close friend, bodyguard and martial arts sparring partner Red West. According to the lot’s provenance, Elvis often wore his sunglasses while sparring, and this pair was broken on more than one occasion. West later gifted them to Charlie Hodge, who lived with Elvis at Graceland and kept the sunglasses in his personal collection for 25 years.
The original frames show signs of wear, including damage to the left nose pad arm, and have replacement lenses. They are accompanied by a brown leather case and a letter of authenticity signed by Hodge.
The sunglasses are being offered from the collection of Elvis Aaron Presley, Jr., who has spent more than 35 years collecting and exhibiting Elvis Presley memorabilia. His collection was displayed for 18 years at The Elvis Presley Museum in Niagara Falls, Canada, and has since toured North America.
The sunglasses will be offered during the live auction on October 1, with the online portion of the auction taking place on October 2. Bidding is available online, by telephone and via absentee bids.
